Like its founder, Coba was born in Alcoy, a town in Alicante surrounded by pioneering textile companies.
At the age of 9, thanks to a Japanese friend of her grandmother, Andrea discovered Japanese culture, which would shape her career years later.
After studying industrial design, at 23 she went to Tokyo on an academic exchange. She learned from Louis Vuitton artisans and fell in love with simplicity, good craftsmanship, the love of wabi sabi and the passion and respect for handcraft.
While riding the Tokyo metro, she sketched bags and accessories.
Back in Spain, while visiting a friend who worked at a local textile company, she noticed a pile of fabrics that seemed to have been abandoned.
They were offcuts that could not be used and would probably end up in the bin, so Andrea took them to try out the bags she had sketched during her time in Japan. Bags that, at first, she would give to family and friends.
That is how it all began.
Coba is the evolution of those first experiments and of more than 10 years immersed in the world of accessories. It is the transformation of a one-woman craft brand into an international, innovative brand and a benchmark in the world of design.
